about

Comprised of three super-heavy originals which have already gained support from the likes of Wildlife, Schlachthofbronx, AC Slater, Nadar and others this is set to be a huge release for the Melbourne duo.

Emerging from somewhere in the distant reaches of the space/time continuum, the Cumbia Cosmonauts come with their signature blend of super heavy Afro-Colombian rhythms, bugged out accordion and sci-fi sweeps. This EP is a tribute to the world’s lesser-known space programs, where large budgets may be lacking but are more than compensated for with raw originality, courage and enthusiasm.

Originally written whilst on a 16-date tour of Europe last summer, the Cumbia Cosmonauts production duo Soup and Saca La Mois DJ!! have tirelessly refined these tunes to deliver this EP of intergalactic proportions. Whether you call it Digital Cumbia or simply Tropical Bass, this is undoubtedly futurist folk music, perfect for not just your headphones, but also a packed club at 1am.

Track Name: Cosmic Skit
English translation -

Space Proletariat 1:
"You know, humankind's whole cosmic adventure is idiotic. What does it actually give us? A few dead asteroids that make you jump out of your bored sleep, a couple of alien hermit colonies who collapse in joy when they discover another stupid galaxy one hundred million light years away. What's the point? And at which price? "

Space Proletariat 2:
"Until now, no one has ever asked the price of knowledge."
